I purchased a 2005 f-250 with a 6.0L PSD with 220 km in May. Has been running great since i bought it. Took in to town for lunch today and it ran great as usual. I started it up after lunch and started with no problems. I went to drive away and it had no power, ran really rough off idle and smoked like crazy. (whiteish/grey smoke) I limped it home and drove another vehicle back to work. I started it up after work and it ran great, took it around the block with no problems. I let it idle to operating temp and took it around the block again. As soon as i backed out of the driveway and gave it some throttle, it started bucking, no power and smoking again. Shut it off for five minutes, started it up again, revved it up a couple times, one big puff of smoke and its ran great since.
there is a gasket kit that needs to be changed, its cheap from napa.
make sure that there isnt any coolant sitting in the bottom of the intake. i used a vaccuum in the intake to get out the soot. i used carb cleaner and made the valve look like new.
SOB! Those friggin' SOB diesels are packed in there, ain't they? Besides being funny SOB's, those guys are certainly worthy of my respect for their ability to fix it their-own-bad-selves. Great post, great video. I think I'll go hug my SOB-V10 now...
Just as a quick note, you don't have to fashion some wacky egr removal tool like they did. Thread some wire through both bolt holes on the valve to make a big loop. Put a lever through the loop and use the top of the alternator for leverage. Pops right out. Takes 2 minutes.
How do you put it back after cleaning the EGR Valve?

I pulled my EGR valve this morning, the heel bar worked really well. I cleaned it with carb cleaner and sucked as much carbon out of the intake as i could. Didn't see any evidence of coolant. Put it all back together and went to start it. It cranked over then stopped like the starter didn't have enough power to crank it over any farther. Checked battery voltage 12.4v, I didn't check it after the glow plugs were on. Both batteries are 7 months old. That's as far as I got today.
Starting to sound like you may have a cracked injector tip/injector oring and it maybe Hydrolocked now stop tryting to start it untill the cylinder is vented
Did you ever smell the smoke did it have a strong diesel smell to it??
have you scaned for codes it may dial you into a cylinder
