Has anyone done a high idle mod on a van, I found 2 DIY's in the tech files, but one is for use with 05-06 factory upfitter switches, which I don't think I have and the other is for 03-04 but it's for an F series. I have an 06 E350 series van, no switches I am aware of, and I'm figuring it's wired different than an F series.
Here is the PTO section of the 2006 Body Builders book. The wire colors and functions are the same, but the wires are in a different place.
Basically, you need to apply 12V to the Orange wire if you want SEIC (high idle with a locked torque converter), or to the Purple/Light Green if you want the Battery Charge Protect (high idle with no torque converter locked, up to 2400 RPM depending on battery charge).
The problem is i'm finding 2 or 3 different DIY's, I guess I need to look and see what colors wires I have in my bundle,as the orange wire is common to all, but the other wire, which is the Battery Charge wire, which is the one i want to use, is shown as 2 or 3 different colors depending on which DIY you look at including yours'. I also looked at the link you gave me which shows the wire bundle locations, it definitely helped as the location on a van, according to the link is outside under the hood, and all the trucks are under the dash, I would have never found it. I don't have these upfitter switches they talk abt. so I guess I have to wire my own switch with a keyed hot to the proper colored wire when switched on.
i have a factory high idle box controller that should work with your van
What does it consist of and how much do you want for it, is it from a van or F series. I've never heard of a factory high idle box controller, only upfitter switches.
The high idle box was designed for 7.3L engines. There won't be a place to plug it into a 2006, and he doesn't need it anyway. He just needs to hook power to the right wire through a switch.
