Like the title says I have a weird issue. An e I plug a scanner into the ob2 port my truck will idle fine it'll it starts the scan then just shut off. It'll do it everytime old hot don't matter tried diffrent scanners same results I tried the search bar but nothing comes up with the same problem.
Oh no he doesn't have a 7.3 he's got a worthless d-max only thing it's got going for it that it is a six speed. He use to work on nbs 7.3&6.0s an it's his scanner.
That's what I thought. Think I remember you have to set it up for non-OBDII protocol but I'll let others chime in that have actually had to set one up. Instruction manual is your friend when trying to get a scanner to work with these rigs.
Thought it was obd2 plug in port is in the truck on passenger side
The plug is called the OBDII port, the engine doesn't speak the OBDII language. You have to plug in the scanner to the port, but then adjust the settings so it reads a non-OBDII engine. The plug has nothing to do with what language the engine communicates in.
What I had thought but like I said diffrent beast then I'm use to so It would surprise me that I didn't know something. Theres nothing wrong with the truck that I can tell but wanted to double check but it keeps cutting off when the scan starts
