Oil Pan Gasket

I was leaking oil at the front of the oil pan where its rounded so I read up on hear what to do. Everyone takes the engine out but I really didnt want to do that so I just dropped the pan. Looks like im not going to be able to get a good bead around the whole thing. Is it ok to leave the old silicone on there and just redo where it was leaking? Or is that a bad idea and I screwed myself now?

Also, the engine seems to shake at low rpms. I just rebuilt it with stage 1 rosewood single shots and dp tuning. The ohms at all the injectors is around 3 so I dont think my valve cover harnesses separated. Any other ideas?

No luck the first time...it was leaking worse then the little bit before. Second time I went ahead and pulled the transmission down and pulled the clutch and flywheel so I could get at the back. I cleaned everything really good with a razor and cleaned out the groove good. You have to be carefull not to let any of the old gasket fall into the oil pan. I also resealed the back plate and main oil seel because i really dont want to pull that trans again. then wiped everything down with acetone to get any oil residue off. Theres no way to get that tube anywhere in there so I used my finger to apply the best bead I could around the whole thing trying to keep it centered on the rim of the oil pan. I had a friend help me put it up so it was right on the bolts without having to slide it any direction. Seems to be holding good for now and usually if its gonna leak it will happen right away. This seemed like the quickest way for me to do it because you have to pull the manual trans anyway to get the motor out. I think i saved at least 6 hours of my time and a whole lot of aggrivation. Now hopefully the pan itself doesnt develop a leak!
