I have a 1978 F250 Camper Special and I messed up my spindle on the passenger side, I want to swap it out with another spindle but the only one available is one from a 1975 F250 Camper Special. The only difference between these two pickups (that I know of) is the wheel base (it was an extended cab) and the engines (75 had a 460 and 78 has a 400).
My question is: Will the spindles swap, and will I have to change anything when I change those spindles? Order different wheel bearings, will the hub fit on, so on... Thanks.

Welcome to FTE
1975 F250 2WD from serial number W40,001, 1976/79 F250 2WD: There are two types of spindles used on these trucks.
It all has to do with the GVW and which type of disc brake caliper is present.
Some 1975/79 F250 2WD's have single piston caliper disc brakes, some have dual piston caliper disc brakes...as it depends on what the F250's GVW is.
All F250 2WD Camper Specials have dual piston calipers as do all F250 2WD's with a GVW of 7,500 & 8,100 lbs. The GVW is stamped on the Warranty Plate, located on the left door face below the latch.
The serial number is the last 6 digits of the VIN, so if the 1975 F250 C/S serial number is from W40,001 .. it's the same puppy.
1973/74 F250 2WD, 1975 F250 2WD before serial number W40,001 use different spindles.
I got the old girl goin again... had to do some swapping. They were not the same. Had to put on the whole front passenger-side corner! The hub, the brake, the whole works! But it all worked out and I got my brakes bled and my bolts all tightened up... She runs like a dream. Thanks! Now just to put the 4-barrel intake man on and hit the road
I know this is going to sound like a stupid question but based on the help from ND the obvious difference would be the caliper, so do they match? both either dual piston or single piston? I know....stupid question.
