How can I know for certain that I have the correct spindles? I bought the I-beams, springs, spindles, etc. from a guy who assured me (famous last words) they were from a '76 F-250. ( Mine is a '66 F-250 and I'm planning to convert to disc). I need to buy rotors and want to know if there is a way to determine if the new spindles are indeed from an F-250. I'm gonna replace the king-pins anyway, so should I just take them in to the parts store or is there a way to measure at home?
Thanks ND. I almost just sent this to you as a PM. I thought you would have an answer.
Spindle stamped 8-LA another # stamped off by itself 8333
Also: I-beam stamped D8TA-9-CA 43

Spindle stamped 8-LA (left side only)another # stamped off by itself 8333

Look again, you didn't list the entire spindle ID number, which will be different from right to left. I need the numbers from both sides to verify what they are.
Similar to this: D5TA-7-LA or D5TA-3107-LA Right // D5TA-8-LA or D5TA-3108-LA Left.
And...if these are the ID numbers from both sides: 1975/79 F250 with SINGLE piston caliper disc brakes.
1973/79 F250: Depending on the GVW, the calipers could be single or dual piston.
6100 and some 6900 lb. GVW used single piston calipers / Some 6900, all 7500 & 8100 lb. GVW used dual piston calipers.
There is no left I-Beam ID number suffix of D8TA-CA, it could be GA
I'm mildly concerned now. The closest tihing I've seen to a # like you've listed is only on the I-beam. The spindle part itself has a # 2 byt itself....a # 8 by itself.....and the two #'s I gave you (also in two seperate spots). I will look again because I know you know your stuff what you're telling me MUST be there....somewhere. I may even e-mail a picture to you. I'm sure each seperate # has a meaning, but since they are in different areas, I don't know if they are related.....
I will post again asap....hopefully with the info you need.

When the die stamps wore due to multiple usage, the ID numbers can be difficult to make out.
This ID info and applications are found in the 1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog / Text, Front Axle Section 30.2.
Take and send pics of both sides of the spindle & I-beam ID numbers via email: sylhall@aol.com / I should be able to figure out what the parts are from.
well....after further review.....
The best I can come up with (and I hope it's enough), is:
left side: B3388C
right side: CV3048B
Before you say it, I know that the left side seems to be missing a letter in the front. I looked, sanded, looked, washed....etc. near as I can tell, if anything was there it was a 'star'. Sounds stupid, but no discernible letter.
The calipers I have are single piston. I believe they are the ones that were originally with my replacement suspension, but I can't be 100% certain as they were thrown in as 'core' calipers.
