can't find a fuel tank selector switch for a 79 f-250 w/twin tanks
D5TZ-9A050-A .. Fuel Tank Selector Switch / Marked: D5TB-9A050-AA / Available from Ford, the Memphis TN FoMoCo parts depot has 68 of the little charmers.
There are dozens more at dealers all across the US. If your local PA dealer doesn't have it, it takes only a coupla days to get it.
Edit: At least two dealers in PA have it in stock / Manderbach Ford in Temple PA has ONE (610-929-3683) / Fred Beans in Doylestown PA has ONE (215-348-0202). There may be others.
Mounts in heater control panel / Also switches the dash fuel gauge from one tank to the other.
Applications: 1975/86 F100/350 / MSRP: $31.51.

The OP has a 1979.
ALL 1975/79 F100/350's with dual tanks have this: D5TZ-9189-B (replaced D5TZ-9189-A & D8TZ-9189-A) .. Fuel Tank Selector Valve & Solenoid Assy / Marked: D5TB-9F271-AA or D8TB-9F271-AA or D9TB-9F271-AA
Since this valve is electric, when the switch is activated, it switches the tanks and the fuel gauge.

1973/74 F100/350's with dual tanks have a manually operated selector valve mounted on the floor, adjacent to the drivers side of the seat.
The switch (D3TZ-9A050-A) used with this valve only switches the dash fuel gauge, so it's not the same switch as 1975/79 (1975/86).
I have a 1973 F250 with both a rear and mid-ship tank. As mine has a manual valve, I am wondering if replacing with an electric valve is even an option, and how much work would be involved in doing so.
