If it has a/c, just open the pass door, and find the access panel for the core on the heater plenum. Remove the eight small crews holding it on, and the core is right there, ready to be removed. It's simple.

The heater core on a truck with dealer installed or no a/c is quite a bit harder, but not the end of the world. I always remove the dashpad (15 or so small screws and it's off) to gain easier access the top bolt of the heater plenum.
You'll need to remove all the bolts that hold the heater case to the firewall of the truck, R&R the core, and put it all together.

The following pics will give you some idea what the top screw's position is.

BTW- my truck had dealer installed a/c, and I was tired of fiddling with it to use it 2 months a year, so I removed it.

Happy wrenching!

To remove mine from my 1981 without AC, I had to remove the cowl panel to be able to get to a bolt (or nut, I really don't remember).

With factory A/C, it's a simple job that can be done mostly sitting in the passenger seat. Pull out the glovebox liner and work thru the open glovebox door for most of the task.
There's the hose connections and coolant refilling that requires underhood work.....
Ford got this one right.

Just a heads up, on my 85 F150 with a/c the replacement aluminum core would not fit. It didn't seem to matter what parts store I check they were all the same. Was told that Rockauto had a brass/copper one that did fit but didn't want to take the chance as some parts stores here listed there's as brass/copper to. So I just found one at the JY because mine was beyond repair.

PM Archion, that's what his company distributes among other things. If there's a good copper/brass one he'll know where to get it. Mine is an AutoZone lifetime copper/brass core.

The ONLY company out there making a CBR replacement is Vista-Pro, which private labels for a few companies as well, including Ford. You will have to ask the parts person who makes their cores. Depending on how old the parts person is, they may refer to the brand as GNO, Daniel, Transpro, or Proliance. They change names alot. If they tell you Visteon or Modine, neither is in business any more. They were bought by the above company and dissolved.
