latest OBS F250 build date

After a few attempts to search for a thread that contains this information, I was unable to find anything... if there is an existing thread available feel free to post the link, no offense taken on this end...

I have a 97 f 250 OBS with a build date of october 1997... As 1997 was a transitional year with both old and new body styles, it seems that 10/97 is near the end...

Anyone else with late 97 build dates?

ALL 1997 F-150's were NEW body style...

1997 F-250's and 350's were the LAST year for the OBS.....1998 was the transitional year for the 250/350's....

I'm interested in finding the end date for the OBS trucks also.

acastell: You've got me by a year, my build date is 10-96...

Your truck would be at the end of the model run for the 1997 model. 1999 Super Duty was introduced in early 1998 thus no 1998 models were built.

In '03 I saw an unusual truck at the dealership I worked at. It was a crew cab, short bed teal and white two-tone F-250...and the build date was 2/98. I remember that clearly.

How it would have been titled, I have no idea.

It should have still been titled as a 97. The 97s were an extended build year while they geared up for the 99 Super Duty that were released in very early 98. They did kind of the same thing in 96 with the F150s. The 96s were still built on schedule and shortly after they hit the lots the 97s were released. It was an interesting time when you could go down to a lot and see the old and new body style being sold right beside each other.

One interesting tidbit is when buying parts for a 99 SD there in a date break down for early and late 99s. There were a few parts that are the same for 97s and 99s. I ran into this with my steering box on my 97. I ordered the wrong box because I told the part man in was a 96 to avoid confusion. But my truck uses the same box from an early 99. There has also been a rumor that floated around for a long time that very late 97s used the new metric wheel pattern of the SDs. I've never seen it but have been told that it was actually the other way around. Some very, very early 99s used left over hubs form the 97s and had the old school 8.5 pattern.

Late build

I just had the same issue with my F350 CCLB steering box as I did the same as Jokerforever and ordered it for a 96. When I found the hoses wouldn't fit, I looked at my tag on the door and to my amazement my "97" was actually built 12/97. My title still lists it as a 97 though.
Anyone with a 01/98 build date on their door?
