Our 05 Excursion has developed a problem. It shifts from 1-2 okay when cold, or if you lift the throttle. However as it warms up it wants to rev to 3K before shifting. Was able to have someone watch it with their scanner and it appears that the 1-2 shift is being called for by the pcm, the solenoids are functioning its just not shifting. The 3K shift is shifting from 1-3. Before we got the scanner on it I change the solenoid pack and the shift selector switch. Truck has 103K on it, has not been used to tow, and the fluid changed about 13K miles ago. If you shift it manually with the selector it shifts just fine.
As a bonus, not sure if this is a separate or related item. On the freeway, after 30-40 minutes of driving the transmission will drop out of overdrive into neutral. Turning off the od switch will put it back in gear but not over drive.
After doing much reading the last couple of days Im going to drop the pan tomorrow and the valve body. Could the 1-2 shift just be something hanging the valve?
I read the problem with the e clip breaking not sure if related. Don't have 2K laying around for a rebuild, but could replace the valve body if needed. Any help or suggestions appreciated.
