i need to know any cheap performance upgrades that i can do on my 1992 4.0l extended aerostar, i need to know all and any performance upgrades and pricing PLEASE! maybe a cheap performance chip or SOMETHING! I NEED POWER! just give my item, description, and price please!
I haven't really seen anything for the Aerostars. I did drill out my air box, that helped low end power but the noise was anoying and I covered them back up. What kind of power are you looking for? My 4.0 runs preety sweet stock as do most I have driven.
you say that drilling your air box gave you more low end. i must know your wisdom. where did you drill the holes at and would this work for a 3.0 instead of the 4.0. thats the only thing i dont like about mine. it has no low end power at all. and that might help.
I drilled 5 holes( approx 1&1/2") around the front and engine side of the box. Not sure how it will effect the 3.0, don;t see why it wouldn't work though. Let me know how it works out for you.
I thought about about doing a K&N Explorer filter kit, but haven't done it yet.
Well
Most 4LT stuff will work on an Aerostar 4LT. Just have to have the right Engine code. I used a Explorer chip, cold box on mine.
Cheap stuff is a K&N filter, exaust.
High end stuff, Full exaust, air body 80mm one, Map housing 80mm from a F150, refuel inject to larger ones. ETC.
A friend of mine got over 250 HP/295 tq after a full redo of a 4LT in his Explorer.
