chris look up rtd antenna. I can build 2 and stack them, run a swich box and be vertical either way. they should come out around 27.655 or so and I have a tuner. there is a small spot at the back of the house on the roof that would let me swing this would only be 15-20 feet up but something is better then nothing at all. rumor is 10-40m are doing good these days.

Well OK then. Looks like I haven't kept up with technology very well. Twenty something years ago they taught me to build an antenna using wooden sticks (isolators) and comm wire (conductive copper). Looks like they've built a better mousetrap since then. I should have figured as much since satellite communication back then required a directional antenna and backpack sized transmitter. Today you can get the same technology in a cell phone.
I'd still be a little worried about it being somewhat directional if you put it on the back of the roof, but perhaps I should just keep quiet and come over and look at what you finally install after it's done and try to learn something. Apparently what I know is about as useful as cavemen beating on rocks.
directional will be a bit of an issue. but that lends itself to placment. Like I said I more or less tring to shop for idea of things that may work that I dont know about yet.
I'm guessing a flag pole is a no-no in your neighborhood? Probably the same with a old fashioned outdoor tv antenna that you mount on the roof?
Since you don't seem to have large trees, and I'm guessing your neighbors might not either, could you plant a tall pole with a "birdhouse" on top of it that just might contain one of those fancy antennas?

I thought maybe they'd allow a birdhouse since that's all environmentally friendly and nature like. I'll keep thinking to see if I can come up with any other ideas. You sure you don't want to just move instead?
I would love ot move but Im in joint ownership with the bank and the market is not in my favor. beside what would you do with me leaving accross the street.
I can get to about 25' my roof is rather tall thats the upside. I found some info on an antenna that should work 6m-40m for me that is only 16' long. its a vertical so I will need to make 2 of them. still not a big deal. I have most of the parts laying around.
