Has anyone had any issues with trying to use a micro inline fuel pump - correct pressure for a 360 5-6 psi so i'd acquired a Facet 4-7 psi - Its not drawing any fuel all the lines and tank are brand new,no clogs and it does have gas in it -Engine fires and runs on whatever i prime it with and then dies.I've started to wonder if maybe Facet factory sets those pumps for the lowest psi which would put it too low @ 4 i don't have a regulator so i'm not sure - any advice?

Welcome to the site.

Sounds like you need to prime the pump. Not sure how it's made, but some won't draw without a prime.

The engine will run fine even at 4 psi, so that's not the issue.

Prime as in drop the line side into a can of gas and run it?

Electric fuel pumps are typically better at pushing fuel than siphoning fuel. Use a turkey baster or some other large syringe-like tool and dribble fuel down the fuel line until it is full.

Btw, where in the system is the pump mounted? The closer to the fuel tank, the better off it will be.

Pump is about 5" from where the steel line pokes out from the floor of the cab so it could'nt be much closer without putting it inside the cab and cutting the steel line outa the tank again its only got maybe 5" of flexible fuel line on the input side of it would'nt be hard to fill it but i wonder whether that would do any good -

OK. Sounds like it is mounted in the right place. Its power source should come directly from the battery. Verify that it is wired correctly in start and run positions.

What carb ya running?

I could'nt get much closer to make a difference from where the steel fuel line pokes thru the bottom of the cab its about 5-6 " forward on the frame rail.Carb is a Motorcraft 600 4 barrel on an Edelbrock aluminum manifold - I'm thinking that the pump being the correct pressure for the engine is'nt strong enough to siphon from the bottom of the tank thru 3 90 degree bends a dog leg bend all being the better part of 2 ' long maybe its too much for it.The pump runs, as when i turn the ignition to the first notch it starts ticking - its wired into the circuit that the choke comes off -Which is hot all the time correct? Some have suggested to run a higher output pump with a regulator - But before i go there i want to be sure that'll correct it.The pump is pushing air as i had the outlet side to the carb off and in cranking it over it was pulsing air against my hand so it is working -Other than that the motors got a good set of merged collector headers on it and i just installed an MSD billet distributor along with the ignition box - Can't stop hot rodding can we -

Any reason you aren't just running a mechanical pump? Most motors will work just fine with a mechincal pump and it gets rid of any possible issues.

Yup that pump must be primed to get it working. These little pumps are a flow through type so you can still run a manual pump and have the electric pump as a back up or a pusher assist. I found out the same thing one day when replacing some fuel lines and watching my in cab fuel psi gauge. Suck on the carb fuel line some to siphon some gas to the pump or remove gas cap turn on ign. key and blow some air into the tank with you mouth should do it. Should not take much if you have the fuel line off the carb. As soon as you hear the pump change it noise as its primed turn off the key..

Have thought electrics were more reliable - which is pretty funny given the issues i'm having.I had the mechanical pump and it seemed as though it was'nt providing a steady flow -

I've actually got the higher output Facet from Napa it may be last years model as it does'nt have the fancier graphics but its identical in appearance.I'm becoming of the mind that it does'nt have enough siphoning ability to pull from the bottom of the tank as i've eliminated the saddle tank so i'm using the behind the seat one-The pick-up tube runs in from the top does a 90 runs along does another 90 behind the filler pipe drops down doesa dog leg then thru the florr of the cab and another 90 i'm thinking this is too much for it - It is a clicker as it sounds like a miniature machine gun - its drawing air thru as i've popped the outlet side off and cranked it and it is pushing air against my fingers so i'm thinking its not strong enough..I've blown bubbles thru the siphon tube so its clear everything is new - tank, lines, both pumps mechanical and electric

Appreciate the advice - AND your service..You don't get a lot of recognition - I know when i was in the Navy thru the mid and late 80's i was in a Sears i think it was in Chicago while in an Engineering school, and had an older Black couple come up to me and a couple of friends and the guy shook our hands and thanked us for our service while his wife smiled on and agreed with him - I remember that to this day - it was the first and only time that ever happened to me - I've not got a ton of Detroit iron experience more foreign car stuff especially hot rodding air cooled VW's But cars are cars and i love em' all - I will try the advice - so it seems as though you look more towards this pump as being a back-up? As i'd removed and blocked off the old spot i have the mechanical pump still - Again thanks..

Here's where my pump is setup as a back up pusher. It shows 6 psi on my cab ga. I also have the 2 tank selecter but use as a fuel shut off if needed.

I was going to say it looked like you had a 2nd tank plumbed in there - i eliminated mine - as they had run the exhaust down the passenger side as there was'nt room on the driver side.I'll change that here in the near future so i've just got the 1 in the cab.But it looks like a neat installation -
