Dont mean to hijack this thread but do SD started really make that big of a difference?
Do they just turn over faster or are they just better quality?

The two bolt SD starter spins alot faster since it's gear reduction.
The three bolt is a planetary gear.

Ended up going with a new "Remy" starter which is made by Delco apparently. I had shut down the truck at the parts store so they could check out the charge system (etc) and she barely started back up. I bought the new starter on the spot while "Orca Blanca" patiently idled outside. I got the starter home and tackled the install. I'm pretty sure the bad starter which I pulled was original. The top bolt was loose, oh well. Tough to reach and all that. To make a long story short the truck snapped to life like never before.
