Timing a 223 inline 6

Hello, I was wondering what the correct position for the gears were for the timing chain in a 223 inline 6. Do you match the dots up or do you offset them? Any body got any pictures of there engine painted up original yellow on a 56 f100?

Do NOT align the marks. Hopefully your chain has the marks on it. If I recall correctly the dots will be somewhere around 2 oclock when aligned properly. Try searching on 215 timing or 215 won't start as somewhere someone posted a picture of how it aligns. Sorry no pictures as mine is green. Also, there is a certain number of links on the chain between the marks 5 or 6???

Good Luck,
Paul

For my '60 223, which I believe is basically the same, The timing marks are posistioned so that there are 12 timing chain link pins between the timing marks on the sprokets.
