Hey guys in the last couple of weeks I've been noticing my clutch pedal softening and engagement moving up pedal started squeaking a couple days ago and there's also a anoing rattle that comes and goes that I've had since I put the clutch in SB says it will chatter like this when sitting idling ??? I'm not sure what's causing all of this or were to start
The clutch is a southbend dd 3600lb. Fork was replaced 20k miles on the setup
how many miles on the clutch? could it be "breaking in"? fluid level alright?
you torgued everything down? did you replace the bearings? slave cylinder mounting is tight? any signs of a leak? pivot pin for the fork is not worn? i believe there was also a problem on the pivot bushings for the pedal, do they look alright?
The DD clutches will make noise while at a stop. Im assuming you have checked to make sure there is no leak and the fluid level is ok.
As finch said there is a problem with the pivot bushing on the clutch pedal to slave breaking but when that happens your clutch pedal will be up to the dash boad basically so i dont think that is your problem.
I would guess your slave and or master havnt been replaced and are starting to wear out. You can buy a pre-bled master/slave kit and install it and that should fix your problem and saves you the headache of bleeding it yourself. They are a pita to bleed.
As for the squeek that is probably your clutch pedal spring and should be remedied by some lube.
Okay there seams to be some fluid on the piece that comes through the fire wall that the clutch pedal conects to (master cylinder I'm assuming ) but fluid level is good that's also the only place I see any slop
how do I pull the slave cylinder out of the side of the trans I don't remember doh!!! So I can look in there and see if anything is way out of place
How much do one of the pre bled assemblys cost any idea? That's the only thing I dint replace when I put the clutch in so I'm hoping this is my problem
through Rock Auto (site sponsor) you can get a Dorman for $85.89 part # CC649021. That was for my 01 f250 but what ever you have should be the same part just double check. I did not see a pre-bled kit from Ford (looking on parts guy Ed's page). That one from dorman does not specify if it pre-bled or not actually. They carry a Brute Power for $132.89 that does specify that it is prefilled and bled system part # PF9021. IMO I would by the Dorman for $85.89 and if it is not pre filled/bled just fill it and bleed it before installing, saves ALOT of hassel and IMO dorman is a better froduct then Brute Power.
If I remember correctly, a new pre bled Ford master/slave ran me about mid $100's 1.5 yrs ago. My clutch is the 'stock' replacement from South Bend and I get feedback at idle, clutch in from the pedal, but no noise. Dual discs make noise regardless it seems.
