Hi I was thinking about getting a fuel pressure regulator for my F100, because I think too much pressure is occurring and causing problems. (The clear filter by the carb is full to the point where it's kinda bubbling a bit, not much though).
Can anyone suggest a regulator from the summit racing website? The cheapest one is what I'm looking for.
If not at least tell me which one to use? I know I want to be able to set the psi at 5.5
As original, the metal (not clear plastic) fuel filter threads onto the front of the carb, has a nipple on the t'other end for the neoprene fuel hose to clamp onto.
Some peeps don't realize that this is the fuel filter, so they install an inline fuel filter.
The aft axle and mid-ship fuel tanks have a plastic meshed filter screen that slides onto the sending units pickup tubes.
When was the last time one a these puppies was changed?
Sorry I also forgot to mention the carb is an edel 600cfm. I've changed the clear plastic one I have a few inches before the carb last year. I've changed the filter that's on the fuel pump itself in april-mayish, but have never noticed another filter between that and the tank. Also when I say the filter is bubbling I mean that it's expanding because of the amount of gas in it.
It wouldn't affect WOT being limited to 6psi even though it'd be set at 5.5? I don't really know much about the gas flow and what not for carbs, just that they need a certain psi and how to hook them up.
The mr gasket one works fine. But if you think your fuel pump is due for replacement elbrock fuel pumps are internally regulated. Expensive but no extra b.s. to deal with.
I know the Holley unit is a good one. Mr Gasket is probably OK but I have no reference.
If you are running a stock style fuel pump, I'm a little surprised pressure is so high. There are millions of them in service with carbs and no added regulator. It should be internally regulated. Maybe the valve is stuck or it is defective? If you are running a high performance or electric fuel pump, i understand why the regulator is needed.
A replacement stock style fuel pump may be the simplest and lowest cost solution.
