Is this bad?

Been getting killed at work, family issues, and the truck has been parked (driving much more economical car to work). Just noticed I have about 1/4" of oil in the bottom of the air cleaner. Truck runs fine, but that much blow-by isn't good. Anything I can dump in the crankcase to slow it down? Rebuild is not my first option.

Went thru the same thing not to long ago. Check/replace your PCV valve and gasket. Also check the vacuum line going to it for leaks. On mine the line to the PCV valve was old and brittle. Replaced it and solved the problem, but replaced the PCV valve and gasket while I was at it.

Do the above, and if that doesn't fix it, don't worry about it. It will keep running as long as you keep oil in it, and it doesn't start fouling the sparkplugs. You know how many miles are on the truck, how much oil it uses, and how many noises it makes when you start it up on a cold morning. If it has a lot of wear, then you will have some blow-by. It doesn't mean you need a rebuild if it runs ok otherwise.

Thanks, made me feel better. I'll keep a jug of oil in it. Almost had an accident in my britches last time I priced oil, holy @#$%! When did that happen?
