steering questions

I had to replace my rag joint I put it on, and now I can't slide the shaft up to bolt it back up to the joint and steering gear box. Any idea how I can push it up I only need about a inch I took the top bolt off, what else can I do? Thanks for the help. Can you tell us what kind of truck you have (engine, 4x2 or 4x4, year, etc...)? You can upload your pic to photobucket and then embed it in your post (the icon of the sun and mountain if you go to advanced posting).

Ohh yea, sorry its a 1980 f150 4x4 302 auto. Ill try to get the picture.

That shaft can be very difficult to slide, especially if there was any dirt on it. Get a wrench that fits over the shaft but under the coller and tap it up with a hammer.
