need help with ABS problems
i have a 2003 F150 FX4, 5.4 V-8. When i first start the truck and take off the ABS system acts like it wants to work and then the ABS lights comes and stays lit.I dont think the system is working when the light is on. What should I check and where to start. Any ideas.... (Took it to a local parts store and they put it on the scanner and would not communicate with the ABS system.. Please help. Thanks
I'd check the fuses first for the ABS. If those are OK, each wheel has a sensor, and those can get damaged or disconnected when work is done on the truck. The sensors are in close proximity to a steel part that resembles a gear. If any of those are damaged, full of mud/rust, or bent/broken, the signal is faulted and the light comes on. You need to be moving at least 5 mph for any of that to function.
Also check all the harness connections for damage.
