Since I upgraded my 84 f350 to a 92 cab I have run into a clutch problem. I switched over to a 92 slave cylinder due to the mounting studs and after bleeding I still can not engage the trans into gear. I did replace the clutch and pressure plate and with the motor off I was able to go through the gears but now I have it started nothing can't get it into gear. I was wondering if the newer slave cylinder is compatible with my T19 setup.
It really shouldn't have anything to do with what trans your running, it's all about the clutch and throwout arm/bearing. I'm assuming the clutch pedal works as normal. Maybe have someone press the clutch while you check to see if it moving the throwout are.
Never really measured but would think 3-6". Should be far enough to activate the throwout bearing and pressure plate. Like stuart1 said, these trucks are known to have a problem with cracking firewalls, so that could be a problem to. But speaking from my own personal experience, I had to replace both my master and slave on my 85 not to long ago for almost the same reason after I had replaced the clutch. It worked fine with the old worn out clutch but not with the new one.
There have been a great many comments on difficulty properly bleeding the clutch hydraulics after they have been replaced in a manner similar to what you have done. Search all the forums.
