Engine Coolant Temp sender
Engine Coolant Temp sender
Trouble shooting a late 99 Hand Shacker for white smoke cold start up issues. I noticed AE is giving me a 500 degree reading. Oil temp was 140. Dash gauge is reading 1/4 the way up.. Should i just ignore it? I know my truck reads that sensor ok and it is acurate but this truck don't.
I would swap it out, they are cheap. The PCM can go into a safe mode if it thinks the temperature is too high. The hand shaker trucks seem to have a better working coolant temp sensor or the PCM reads it better than the automatics. The manual I have only calls out information on the trucks with a manual transmission. I assume the sensor on the autos is only for the idot gauge.
What does AE say the temp is when the truck is cold?
What does AE say the temp is when the truck is cold?
Not sure what it is reading cold.. The sensor is near the upper radiator hose correct? Little confuse because the gauge on the dash says it is ok. But the EA says it is not unless there is another sensor hiding somplace that i am not aware of.
