Ranger Bed

The sides of the bed on my 89 ranger are really rusting bad. It seems to me the bed is 3 pieces. I could buy two side panels and put them on, but how hard is it to separate the bed and to install the new sides?

Or would i be better off going to a junkyard and looking for a whole new bed. if this is the best choice, what is the newest bed that would fit on my truck( the 6 bolt patteren).

I'd go with the second idea (replace the whole bed), and a box up through a '92 should fit. But what are the odds of finding a nice '92 pickup box in a junkyard? It's already 11 years old! You may have to go with replacing the side panels. If you do find a nice cargo box, congratulations!

Hmmm, i was hoping that ford hadn't changed the mounting bolt patern from the newer 93-97 ranger but i guess not.

I have no way of knowing if they changed the bolt pattern; neither would you until you went to switch the beds. I was thinking along the styling lines- up to '92 the Ranger was very boxy, after that the box was much more rounded. The newer box simply won't match the lines of your truck.
