xmas present for dad!

Hey all,

I just registered because I wanted to ask a question about a xmas present for my fathers truck. Its a 54 F100. He wants taillights for his truck because the ones he has are not original. Can anybody show me what taillight came on this truck from the factory? Let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks,
josh

Go to www.midfifty.com and type in tail lights in the search box. It will bring up the original ones your looking for.

Check out midfifty.com. They have a lot of options of shields and round taillights. Good luck and great to see someone buying a gift that matters. (I hate getting tube socks when a new taillight lens would be awesome).

The brackets should be painted - not plated though:

When did they change from round to the shield type? I usually only see the shield type yet once and a while they have round ones...

Stephen, 1955 was the first year for the shield type.

The above pic of tailights is correct. Don't be fooled by the Mercury tailgate, they were the Canadian version of Ford Trucks.

Ah ok, so a correct version for a 55 or 56 would be the shield type. Did they originally come with the Ford script on them ?

The 55-56 taillights did not have a script font, but they did have a block letter font.
