Not sure. I think the kit is sized to fit the bolt and includes the tap the correct size for the helicoil. So if the bolt is 7/16, I think you would need to get the kit for 7/16, but you should probably ask them at NAPA and confirm.

Just an update: It turns out i didnt have to use a helicoil kit. The threads in the mounting plate extend deeper than the factory bolts, so ivwent and refunded my 2 bolt starter, got the 3 bolt one, and a longer bolt. Threaded it through the good threads, got it lined up through the ones i messed up and into the good threads deeper in the hole. She cranks great!

Only problem came when i cranked it over the first time. I had the hood up, turned the key and it stuttered a little, followed by a huge ploom of smoke. I thought for sure i fried something electrical. But i tried again and it went perfect. So i guess all is well.

Sounds to me like you might need to replace your starter solenoid on the passenger side fender as well. Either that or you have a loose connection someplace. Huge plumes of smoke don't usually happen by coincidence.

I agree. I would say that a "huge plume of smoke" would generally be indicative of a problem.

Is the bolt-hole flange on the SD starter thicker than on the OBS starter?

Was the plume of smoke under the hood? If so, yeah, check/replace the relay. Or maybe you meant a plume of smoke out the tailpipe?

I have a right angle attachment for a drill..... 5/16 hex shaft sticks out of it to put into drill chuck.... keyless chuck at the end. It has saved my but a couple times drilling in tight places..
