This dang vehicle is driving me nuts!! Last time, I had problems with misfires on cyl 3 and 4. That ended up being water in the plug wells... Got that cleared up and not I've got a misfire situation again!!

I drive my Expedition once a weeks to take the kids to and from my parents and on the way over yesterday, I fell a misfire... SES lights then starts blinking and it went off. Then misfire again and it sets. Periodically, the SES light blinks when I feel the misfire.

Today, I pull the codes and it's showing misfire on cyl 1 (P0301) and pending fault codes of P0171 and P0302.

Because of pending code to cyl 2, I'm now thinking I've got something in my fuel rail causing the lean condition and misfire to cyl 1. And if it's not a clogged fuel rail, could the PVC cause these codes? Can a misfire on cyl 1 cause the pending codes?

I'd look further into it now, but I don't have time to be under the hood. I've got an infant sleeping, which gave me a few mins to pull the codes, but no more. If he wakes while I'm under there, I'll have holy hell to pay.

I replaced the coil pack on cyl 1 and cleared the codes. Took it for a 8 mile test drive and it seems to be running fine now... I guess a misfire can cause a lean condition ... Still wondering why cyl 2 was showing a pending misfire...
