heard bout them. not many i've heard tat are used on our trucks. most go wif motorcraft cos they're pretty good. i jus replaced my rear ones at about 96k. mine's a dually so heck, i aint taking no dang chances at slippin up. somebody might get killed if i'm irresponsible about keeping up to date on my brake pads. lol.

BRAKE PADS
I was considering Hawk brand pads: very expensive pads, front and rear around the $170 range. Will stick with reply suggestions; Motorcraft OEM. Thanks, Mike

X2. I got 108K from my first set of front OEM and replaced them with Premium motorcraft pads. At 178K I still have over half of them left. I've never replaced the rear pads (yet). And FWIW.......no dust or squealing.

Out of curiosity, how were your front rotors when the pads finally went on you? I'm just wondering if these OEM pads are rotor killers or not. Were you still above minimum spec on rotor thickness or did you have to replace them?

I was way above minimum specs. I had them trued up but it didn't take much at all. Still on the stock rotors at 178K and would be surprised if they couldn't go one more time.

The Hawk LT pads are awesome. Vastly better stopping power than stock. I lost a set of rotors pulling a large fifth wheel and had to panic stop on a steep mountain. Replaced with Cryo-Slots and Hawk LT pads. I now have over 100,000 on them and they are barely wearing. The stock pads rotors were fine for an empty truck, but the Hawk and Cry-Slot set up really helps with the heavy loads.
