Has anyone ever had a problem with the drivers seat bending?? I have a 99 sport and somehow the seat bent and its very uncomfortable- it bent back in a slight bit in the upright position. I can bend it back with some pressure from the back but if I lean back for anything it goes back the same ackward position. Seem as if the frame uner the seat is where the problem is because the plastic cover that goes on the side keeps comming off- I am looking for a replacement but it seems difficult to just get one seat- any help?
Most likely there is a broken spot weld on the seat frame/ support assembly. You should be able to unbolt the seat from the floorboard and remove it for inspection. The lower support frame should be removeable from the seat section also (at least it is on my 91). From there, you can inspect and if necessary, have a welding shop repair it for a small fee. Worst case, get a salvage yard replacement and transfer the seating components to the support assembly.

I broke the back of the seat down like that in my 94 Explorer. I had special ordered mine with the 60/40 split bench. I could never find just the drivers side in the right color, so I opted to go back with the buckets and console. The buckets I wound up with came from a 99 and fit perfect ( all bolt holes lined right up) and it only took 2 wires to make the 8 way powers seats work. I got both (leather) 8 way power bucket seats for $150. So I guess what I am saying is just dont limit your searcdh to your specific year model truck.
I priced out the left seat back for a 94 ranger with 60/40 seats (should be same for explorer) at the dealer this week; about $85. This didn't include the uphostery.

I somehow snapped the frame of my 1999 explorer driver side seat. The whole seat unbolts from the floor, then the frame unbolts from the sliding device. It cost me about $100 for a brand new frame and it was easy to uninstall/install.
