Hey guys trying to install my system and I want to run my amp power wire but i cant see a good spot to run it. My battire is located on the passagenger side and the only way i can see running it is if i run it through the fender and into the truck but ive always been told thats a very bad spot to do it? Any help or pics would be greatly appreciated.
Check up under the dash for any un-used holes in the fire wall. Drill a hole and use a rubber grommet and pass the wire through. Or run it under the cab on and up into the cab at a factory hole pre-made.
Just look around under the dash or such and find whats best for you. Make sure you keep the lenght of wire you have in mind.
Alright I kinda figured that but i wasnt sure if anyone had found a spot that works better then most. I dont want it to run all over the place so im going to look near the passanger side and see what i come up with
Make sure you run your rca wire opposite from your power wire. if they are close it will pick the signal from the alternator and you will get a high pitch wine coming out of your speakers and will get louder as the motor revs. (You will also get a very similar noise if the ground is more than 3ft long). I ran my power wire over the wheel well behind the finder and through the rubber protector that connects from the door to the truck then to my amp under the seat. I should have drilled a hole and used a rubber grommet like Brian085 said. Not sure on the length though it has been a few years. Sorry no pics Im at work.
Are you wiring just subs or your door speakers?
ive never heard running the power wire and the rca wire seperate. i ran them together and ive had no problems with a high pitch whining coming thru. but it does make sense ive had a mustang in the past that i had the whining in. i will have to try that if i ever have that problem again

I have had the problem before and running the RCA on the opposite side as power fixed it.
I drilled a hole by the cab mount where the rubber is and ran some wire i had but its not long enough so i need to get a new one a little longer. I have enough to do the ground and the fuse but not enough to go through the floor to the battire so ill have to grab some. I havent checked to see if my amp will fit under the seat im sure hoping it will cuz if not im not sure what im going to do with it lol
