I did a search but am not finding anything on the 2008 F-150 4x4 extended cab XLT rear spring rate. Any ideas? Shop I was in this past weekend (without truck while up in SD deer hunting) said it'd be on the door sticker. I looked, only see a figure for 1746 KG I guessed would be it - but that can't be right at all, would be like 3900 lbs. My OEM's are trashed, dealer says they need replaced, but theyd only put on the same soft OEM which would give out once loaded with something again. Found a place in KC, General Spring, online has them at an awesome price but they offer 3 different ratings: 1700, 1900, 2400. Not looking to lift, only be able to put more than 50 lbs in back without rear sagging.
I would go with the heaviest rating that you can. That would be the 2400 lb rating. It probably would raise the rear an inch or two unloaded, but it'll handle weight so much better. I have an 06 XLT EC 4x4. When I checked at the dealer on my springs, he said the only one heavier rated than what my truck has aree the ones out of the HD Payload Package (7 lug wheel) trucks. And they only had 1 more leaf than the springs the truck came with. There is a company near me that can add leafs to my original springs and that's the way I'll go. I installed some helper springs on my rear leafs and set them for the highest setting (1500 lb.) and it didn't raise the rear end much at all. The ride is about the same. But it sure made a difference when towing my 7000 lb enclosed car hauler.
I have an 08 F150 with the heavy duty payload package. I put 2000 lbs right over the rear axle and it only leveled the truck out. If a set of those springs ain't enough for you, you need more truck.
