John, just who I was looking for!! The reason I ask is I have seen pics of your set up.And I live for your articles.I havent gone as far as 4 link but wonder if me having a truck to go back in forth to the bar every other weekend really negates a 4 link ?? I truely am for show even though I have a 390. hey john i am though truely thinking about the shortening job and was wondering price and posatives to this. Thanks DJ Richland WA

Rosa

Get a magnetic angle guage from the home center. Remove the driveshaft. Measure the angle on the face of the trans output shaft and the differential pinion. Don't try to cheat by measuring the transmission pan, pan bolts or anything else.

And how do I know this

Aim for perfection but I have never really noticed any problems if you get inside the two degree window. Pinion shims should be available locally but not all parts house carry them.
