Not sure how much of a gift it is, but I gave my daughter a truck today. 1981 f150 351m 4x4 automatic. I drove it for years, and she has been after me to give it to her. I showed her the posts from a couple of people on here, and now she is looking at rebuilding it.
I just got an 83 crew cab so we are going to build them together.
very cool to have something that I can do with her that we both love.
When she gets home from where she is, she will set up an account and introduce herself with pictures.
That's great! Congrat's! Same truck my dad has, and which I plan to borrow from him - permanently. (He's 91 and doesn't have keys to it, my brother and I do, 'cause we are all lots safer this way.)
Put some pics up anyways....We're pic wh0res around here....Its the satisfaction of seeing yet another Blue Oval....
I think you're giving her a winning setup....but then again, I think EVERYTHING needs a I6.....It's rugged, and simple....
I agree with you on the I6. In a few years when she turns 18, I will let you know. or rather she will.. she is 16, and this is her first vehicle. wanted to start her off right.
Great to hear that she's interested in rebuilding the truck. Post some pics of both trucks. Don't see too many crew cabs around here so I'm kind of lonely. haha
Congrats on giving a safe vehicle to your family. Seeing as you have owned it for a few years you know it's reliable. Wich is great for a young driver. I have no experience with the 351M, but I do with the 400M. It was a great running engine. I love the 351W myself. Best of luck and yes we need picks of both trucks!!!!
1981 F150 4x4 full package. auto air cruise tilt. 351m 135,000 actual miles. Currently has a sticky throttle issue and goes through one throttle cable a year. Garbage not included... but landfill is closed for season so have to take it to the city. Before I purchased it, it was owned by a retiree who bought it new.
In the last two years, it has had new rubber, fuel pump, carb rebuild and three throttle cables. plus misc oil changes.
It wasn't getting a lot of use because we can't fit the family in it. We have five kids plus my wife and I. would be a bit crowded.
The guy I bought it from only drove it from the farm to the cafe. The chrome is good all the way around. Bumper is solid. And we have to make a trip to the landfill. Tires less than 500 miles on them. She is excited.
