5.8L Build or possible BUST?

1994, F-250, 4x4, 5.8L, E4OD trans
Need so new ideas/ advice on what could possibly have gone wrong.

About 3 months ago I decided to rebuild the tired 351 in my pickup. At the time it was my first engine overhaul and proceded with care throughout the whole process. I did a mainly stock overhaul due to ECM restrictions. We went .030 oversize bore, all new pistons, rings, bearings, oil pump, valve train, ect... Its a roller block btw. Anyway finished the build, started the truck have great oil pressure. 50 psi @ idle. Temps are running normal. However I have a faint ticking noise coming out of the exhaust. The truck will idle normally at 800 rpm, but once it enters a closed loop I recieve a check engine light. After the light comes on the idle becomes speratic... When driving it feels like a major lugging of the engine is occoring and you can hear the engine missing. Ive ran many tests and replaced multiple components. What could be causing this?
Any ideas are helpful, Thank you for your time.

what oil filter and oil are you running? How many miles on this build. did you install new lifters?

does the ticking change with rpms? does it only happen after the truck is warmed up? Have you checked and retightend all the exhaust manifold bolts?

like mentioned the Injectors will tick. get a stethascope or use a broom handle to find the noise while the motor is running.

and pull codes and tell us what you got.

F-trucker88-
Im unsure of the codes. Im going to take the truck into my work and scan it asap.

Cj06-
I considered that. However injectors are brand new from ford.

Kemical Burns-

Running a K&N oil filter. Less than 100 miles on build and probably 20hrs of run time. ( lots of diag.)
The Lifters are brand new, followed the directions to a T upon install. Im almost 100% sure that the noise is valve train related. I talked to a friend at work who had the same problem and used the same machinest... He installed .060 longer pushrods and cured all problems. I need to measure the clearance between the stem and rocker to get a better idea of the cause. I've ran through and retightened the header bolts 3 times. No leaks. Used the stethascope... couldnt find a definate point where the noise was coming from
