Rebuild it. There is no reason to replace it unless it is seriously broken. Mine leaked and i rebuilt it for about $20 and it works well and doesn't leak. If it leaks its because it has something broken that is in the rebuild kit.
There should be a small metal tag bolted on the carburetor. Mine was covered with mud/grease/40 years of crap. When you find it write that number down and take it to an auto store, they should be able to order it.
There should be a small triangular shaped metal tag bolted on the carburetor with the carb ID number stamped on it, similar to this: C5TF-G

Today, many of these tags are missing. Look on the base of the carb, Ford also stamped the ID number there.

Brakes next issue: No pedal pressure. Master was empty,Lines are all great shape I got the back bleeders to open with no problem.Haven't tried the front ones yet. So do I start with the fron ones 1st then go to the back ,to bleed? Do you think the master has dried out after sitting 5 yrs and should be replaced? I filled it and of course..no pedal when pumped .
Thanks also for the carb info. !!
I'm trying to rent a garage for the winter to "tinker" on the ol girl. Mines filled with boat,70 Electraglide, 4 wheeler and snow blower...to much "STUFF"..
Thanks again folks!!
Metal tag of course is missing . And can't seem to see the stamped #'s on the base. Guess it would be best to remove it from the intake??
Or can anyone give me a guess at what carb it is by the picture in my Garage.???
NumberDummy,
Since we are speaking carbs and I can't strart a thread just yet, could you tell me what the bi-metal spring is and it's function that's inside the exhaust collector, just under the exhaust manifold on my 64 223 I6 single barrel carb set-up? Thanks
