SD Starters

Do the super duker 7.3 two-bolt starters just bolt right up to our stock location? Also, are they comparable to the DB Electrical gear reduction starter as far as how fast they spin? I have a crapanese advance auto starter that is slooooow. Fortunately it has a lifetime warranty but I'm tired of replacing it yearly.

Yes they are direct bolt on. I have been happy with my Oreilly's starter for the last year...

You will need to make one of the wire eyelets larger though...

Do you have the Oreilly PN? My dad works there but says there must be a difference between the SD and OBS ones.

Difference is that the SD starter has more torque than ours, only uses two of the bolts to mount, and evidently has one electrical post larger than one of ours.

James, can you just drill the eyelet out or does it need a new one?

You can just drill it out. I have the DB electrical starter because I could afford to drop the coin needed for the SD starter at the time. So far (knock on wood) I have been very happy with the one I got from DBE. It really starts the truck fast, even when it is cold outside.

I wouldn't send DB any money. They sell crap. Go down to the Oreilly's and get a lifetime warranty starter or have a local shop rebuild yours.

My DBE high torque is 2.5 years old and will barely turn the motor over anymore. It started out super strong and spun it fast. Not any more...
I need to fix that soon, I need the truck to plow the drive.
It's bound to snow here sooner or later.
