Well my starter quit on me today. Good thing i was at home. I called orieys and ask bout an 02 f250 and then gave me the option for a 3 bolt or 2 bolt mount. I though super dutys were all 2 bolt. I was wanting to put a true denso starter in when mine went out but thats gonna be an extra 225 bucks. Would it be worth it in the long run to get a denso?

01 and 02 had the option for 2 or 3 bolt, the 3 bolt being the same one we have. I just picked up my 2 bolt on the way home.

Just an FYI. The
super duker
trucks with the auto and 2 bolt starter seem to have an issue with the starter bolts coming loose sometimes. I've never heard of it happening on the ZF models. I don't know what the reason is, but I've seen it on several different year models.

Just something to keep an eye out for if you go that route. I've got a DB in mine before they switched to MIC junk. It's starting to slow down after a couple of years. I think I'll just visit my local re-builder when it's time.

The way it was 'splained to me was that either the 2 is a gear reduction starter and the 3 isnt or the 2 is more so than the 3 so it makes more tq and goes faster. Couldnt catch what he said, was to busy cringing at the price lol

What about International T444E starter? They look MONSTER if compare to powerstroke.

It had 3 bolts like powerstroke. It HUGE than powerstroke.

Ya i know what you mean on the price. I will ask tomorow which one is gear reduction. I called orielys just for another price but i will prob go with the alt and starter store in town.

MeanGreen makes a great starter, but its 400 bucks. I'm going that way when the time comes again..

You know, I'd been chalking my slow / hard starts up to worn out batteries (the P/O put really cheap ones in). But they're still dual batteries and it isn't that cold here. I wonder if I should add a better starter to my list of "necessary" modifications.

Any word on the T-444E starter?
