2008 6.4 fuel problems

Exclamation 2008 6.4 fuel problems

My 2008 f-250 6.4 is throwing 4 dtc codes which are p0088"fuel rail/system pressure-too high" p0275"cylinder 5 contribution/Balance" p1000"obd system readiness test not complete p2291 "injector control pressure too low-engine cranking". I cant begin to think what the problem could be im not a mechanic but i usually do my own work on my vehicles i previously owned a 7.3 so i know my way around a diesel engine so any suggestions would help out. thank you

Well, I'm not a mechanic either, but there are a couple on here and I'm sure one will give you more info in a while. The fuel system on these trucks can have some expensive problems. Based on threads I've read on here it sounds like a HPFP (high pressure fuel pump). Have you been keeping up with the filter changes on both filters? Very important and very important to use ford filters. Good luck.

i just changed both the fuel filters like a week before this happened but when i changed them they were not really dirty at all

If you got the latest flash and you don't have a wrench or a Limp mode then it may just be that number 5 injector. sennix will be here soon and decypher the codes for you. Do you use a fuel additive, most of the regulars on here use one. Diesel Kleen seems to be popular. that's what I use. good luck

I have not gotten the latest flash and all that's on is the check engine light and no I don't use diesel additives that often

The P0088 has to do with the HPFP....I would think that the other codes you are getting may result from that....I did own a 2008 F250 6.4L diesel and I had the P0088 code. My truck at the time had 117,000 miles ...so I took it to the dealership. The HPFP had to be replaced...I was lucky my warranty covered the cost ...good luck and keep us posted....

Thanks for the info I might have to take it in to see what they tell me .the truck still runs good just the engine won't let it accelerate quick if I try to floor it so ill prob drive it to the dealer if I can't figure out what it is soon

Yup..HPFP. And an injector.

Either bad fuel with water in it or something. Be sure to gather your reciepts for the fuel filter changes and take that in with you.

Hope they were motorcraft filters.
