Left front air spring on my 2003 Expedition EB gave out yesterday. I remember hearing that the air suspension would fail (not if, but when). I drove it to Just Brakes and the kids really enjoyed the bumpy ride. Had the air shocks removed and replaced with Arnott Industries coil spring kit. Also had the upper control arms replaced as the grease seals were broken. This would have been a fun project to do myself but time will not allow. The ride is good and it gave the vehicle a 2 - 3 inch lift. Now, is there an easy way to overrride the "air suspension is turned off" warning at startup?
Thanks,
Dale in Houston.
PS I am gradually downgrading from EB to XLT.
The system was ordered by the dealer without the premium sound system that is standard on the EB (it had a tape deck!!!). The power quarter window motors are out and at $100 each they will not be replaced. And now I have a spring suspension. It is running strong at 174K. Hope to get another 174K before budget will allow for an upgrade.
