The other day I posted about breaking the shift shaft when I was trying to remove the nut holding the shift lever on when I was trying to install a new MLPS. Well I finally got the little roll pin out that holds the shift shaft in place and removed the nut on the back of the shaft. When I did that the shaft came out real easy. When the shaft came out the rod that it attaches to, the rod that goes back into the transmission, just fell right out. That kind of suprised me a little and I'm hoping that it was suppose to do that. I don't see how I could have broke anything in there cause I didn't apply any force or pressure to that rod. I don't really know how that rod goes back in other than to just stick it back in the hole that it came out of. Anyone have any experience with this?
Well I followed the advise of trackspeeder and stuck it back in the hole! LOL. It went back together just fine. Instead of ordering a new shift shaft to replace the one I broke, I took the broken shaft to a machine shop and had them drill and tap the broken end of the shaft and insert a 9/16 stud into the end of it. When it was done it looked like it did before I broke it!
