Hey,
I just installed a Hypermax Cowl Air Induction system into my n/a 7.3idi with 315000 miles. The truck is also straight piped. Nothing special, just had the muffler cut out and exited the pipe in front of the rear tire. This was my first attempt at installing anything new to the truck, and it was pretty dang easy.
I've driven the truck a couple of times since finishing the installation, and I could immediately notice a nice improvement in the trucks performance. I attempted to add some pics of the installation to my profile, but they have not appeared yet. I'll repost them if they don't show up in the next day or two.

you noticed an increase from not just a factory setup, but a custom air intake already i see.it was ducted out to the grill at first it looks like?
the high pressure of the cowl is pretty hard to beat.
she's a bit dusty out your way.
Ya, it didn't have any air intake when i first bought it. The stock had been removed for whatever reason. I added the air duct as a temporary fix until i could decide what type of air induction to add to it.
Thought about getting a stock intake from a salvage yard (just to keep it original), but now i'm glad that i added the hypermax instead.
