just slapped my 750 combo carb & intake on my 460, it was 18 deg f. today so the to say the least my rtv made end gaskets at least the frt one is leaking a little..anyone have any sureproof ideas besides ripping it all back off again???
Yeah, rip it off and start again... No really, there isn't such thing as repairing an RTV gasket, scrap the old RTV and use fresh one once again, just be sure to do it more carefully this time.
even if its going to be cold..? i feel like rtv isnt the way to go for end gaskets but edelbrock recommends it....? i'ld feel better just using rubber end gaskets regardless of what edelbrock thinks especially since the rtv leaked...i was a little premature on start up i only let it sit for an hour or two before start up.. big diff. though from 600cfm and stock intake
Especially if it's cold. Everything takes longer as temp drops. You can tell a bit by feeling the stuff that squashed out after installation. Do all your final torqueing then let it set. don't go back and retorque once it's set.
Tip: Put four studs or headless bolts in and lower intake onto them. This will keep things from sliding around messing up the sealer.
soo. on that same note is it strange i have a dead spot @ wot, now that i put diff intake and more carb, it almost seems like its retarded a little would advancing it just a little cure that or would that be relatted to that end gasket not sealing..?hmmm..what do you guys think?
