Is it over yet?

So....... new to the diesel world and did a ton of reading before I finally bought a 06 F-350 6.0PSD with 75k I love the truck but ive had it about 2 months now and have done EGR valve and cooler and Oil cooler and most recently FICM. I know I should have done studs while doing coolers but couldnt afford the extra cash. As of know is there anything else that may cause me issues in the near future from what Ive been able to read on FTE I hit most of the comon problems, can you think of any others? Also Im looking into doing EGR Delete and buying a tuner am I safe running a tune with no headstuds? also looking at Scangauge II but i dont think it will read EGT should I add gauge for that? Sorry for all the questions still very new and trying to learn. Thanks

As always were here to help

My best advice is to buy a scan gauge II to monitior your FICM voltage, ECT VS eOT temps.

Do NOT tune it with out headstuds. I don't care what anyone says, I just wouldn't. Then again, I know a guy with an 05 6.0 190cc injectors and an SCT tune, and his HG's show no signs of failing. Its really a do at your own risk thing.

Deleting your EGR system is illegal, but MANY people do it.

Unless your towing a massive trailer, I wouldn't not concern to much about it.

Id get some gauges like Tyler mentioned scangauge Edge insight whatever but something to watch some things with
Fuel Pressure and EGT have no factory senders for these so you have to start from scratch on these. ScanGauge is a GREAT Start IMO

Then you might want to look into some of the cheap reliability Mods like the Blue Fuel Spring, and a Coolant Filter, Synthetic oil, ELC=extended life coolant, CCV Reroute, Harpoon mod

I wouldnt throw a tune to the truck without ARP studs either

But they do have tunes advalible for Non-Studded trucks

Yes the Blue Spring is OEM and can get from ford dealer

On the Tunes I have read that it does add Preformance Im not shure whats all involved with it
its an SCT tunner with a custom tune You could ask the Tune writer about what all it does
Or maybe someone that has one will chime in here

Best thing to find out about the tunes would be to start a new thread Titled tunes for non studded truck or something you will get the answers you want or you could use the search box at the top of the page

I have a 06 like you but with 200k miles on her. I have done everything you have including SCT, Oil cooler, EGR delete, Coolant filter etc. I have a Scan guage on it to show what all is going on. I think my FICM needs alittle help but I think its all good. I did get a tune because the check engine light came on when I blocked the EGR cooler. I dont have studs in mine but am not too worried about it. Matt at gearhead did my tune and I highly recommend it! I am using the 8k tune and just keep my foot out of it. It has the power if I need it it does add a good bit of power better mpg and the trans shifts great.... I definitely like mine...

I think you have hit all of the highlights... Now its just fun mods...

depends on the shop labor rate. You could pay anywhere from $1,800 - $2,500 in labor + parts. Where are you located at? I do them on the side for $1,000 in labor

just like with ANY used vehicle, some are good, some are not so good

same goes with what you MUST do before tuning...

in my last two 6.0 Ex's all I did was exhaust updates to lower egts' and then tuned via the IDP Extreme street.... current truck now has 140k HARD Miles and running like a scaled ape

no studs, no egr cooler, no etc....
