time for a new project - nerf bars v side step
I'm needing some advice prior to purchasing or giving it a go on building a set of step bars for my '96 CC. I've searched various sites and I'm not real excited about what is available for the OBS. Style wise I prefer straight/oval design over the rounded end style of nerf bars. I could go to pre made side steps? Even thinking of making up a set with a buddy of mine, we have the tube bender and welder at the ready, if needed. Once made I would Rhino coat them. If I make them up, what would be the point of attachment? The rocker panel doesn't seem to have enough support and frame rails are a bit far, I think. Any ideas/tips from the group (thats been there and done that) would be appreciated.

I have some older style Smittybuilt step bars on my 97 (had almost the same ones on Whitey). They attach to the frame, they are plenty stout. I can try and get pics if needed. I'm not happy that the set on Whitey was damaged when she got totaled, I know someone would snap them up in an instant if they were both straight.

I think I'm going with the steps v the nerf bars. didn't find a good looking set of bars for the '96 CCLB. Found a set of 10" steps from Carr Pattern Co. that will work out at $83/set.
