I have a 1990 F250 4x4 diesel, and sometimes my passengers have a little bit of trouble getting up into the truck.
I have been looking online at different steps . . . I don't think that nerf bars would look very good on this truck . . . so I have been looking at the aluminum side steps made by Bully and Carr.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with installing these . . . would I have to drill into my frame? . . . or drill into the cab?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. It's tough to tell online if certain ones would install easier than others on the 1990s Ford pickups.
They also put extra stress on the rockers. I would advise against them. I don't particularly care for nerf bars either. My advice is not to get steps unless you really need to have them. If you have to get them, go with bars.
I had the same issue, needed to get a set of steps for my truck. It was a struggle for shorter passengers. I went with a set of bars, powdercoated black, and they bolt to the frame and body mounts. Installation was simple with basic hand tools, and they're pretty sturdy. I got my set from Summit Racing, they have a pretty decent selection and shipping is reasonable on large items. Can't think of the brand off the top of my head. Some people like the look, some don't. Pretty much goes that way with all truck accessories.
I installed running boards before on someone's dodge for them, and it was a bit daunting. Drilling holes in a brand new vehicle makes me cringe.
