So my mechanical advance isn't working. I revved it up to like 2-3000 rpm and got a change of 2-5 degrees with the vac advance plugged. Is this right. I wanted to take a look at it to see if it was froze up but the stator is rusted to the shaft. Any suggestions on what to do or test or anything?
You should be able to turn the rotor with your hand and feel the spring pressure. Then it should go back. You can spray some lubricant of your choice down in there and work it some and it may fix your problem. The factory springs are stiff, but you should still be getting much more advance than that.
I can turn it maybe a quarter inch or less one way and it will spring back. I think I'll try spraying lubricant in there every once in a while. Hopefully it will free up some. thanks
When I turn it , it moves up while turning is this bad. Still only getting around 6 degrees advance at 3-4000 rpm with centrifugal by itself. 30 total.
