Hey guys. I have a 97 stroker thats runs and drives great just a few questions. I cant figure out how to post a picture so I'll try and explain myself.
1.Looking into the engine compartment, on the back left firewall there is some sort of mechanical pump. It has a lever, and a white hose coming out of it. But that white hose has broken in half. When I push the lever air comes out of the hose. Im assuming that it is for something with the AC or heater. However everything works fine on the truck. What is it and how important is that hose?
2.I have a fuel leak coming form the pump or the banjo fitting, can't really tell yet. I have been on this forum quite a bit lately and see that other people have had this problem and it seems pretty common. I understand that there is a copper seal on the banjo fitting. Does anyone have the PN for it. Im going to change it out along with some of the hoses on surrounding lines. Hopefully that works before changing the pump.
Any help would be apreciated. Thanks ahead of time.
Do you mean the TRUCK's left, or left relative to standing in front of the truck? It's always better to refer to left and right relative to the vehicle itself.
that is what lets fresh air into your ac system. when that line breaks, the door stays open. in the summer, the ac will not work as well because yyou will be bringing in hot engine air
Eric, I going to be honest on the fuel pump thing. Replacing the pump is easy, but the banjo washers are a real pain. If I was going to replace the washers and hoses I would go ahead and just replace the fuel pump, especially if you know it's never been done before (2 extra bolts). There is really nothing to wear the washers out so I doubt they are defective. Try tightening the banjo bolt a bit first, I did, wishful thinking but it was the pump.
In any case the two washers go on each side of the fitting the banjo bolt goes through. What makes it hard is the front washer (towards the pump) is difficult to keep in place when screwing the bolt into the pump body. Also the bolt thread is very fine making it difficult starting straight because not much room in there, especially if you have big hands.
If you decide to go ahead and do the pump too then post back as there are a few procedural things you should be aware of when removing the pump.
Perfect. Thank you all for the help. That was exactly what I'm looking for. Im going to change the pump and everything in there just to fix the problem once and for all. And thats good info on the AC unit. Just curious though do you think heat shrink would suffice for splicing the line back together?
Another question that is off the topic of the other two questions. Has anyone used Als truck bed liner in there truck. I have always done Rhino lining and loved it. But this is much cheaper and seems pretty good. Just wondering what everyone's thought's were. Thanks again.
