reverse lights not working, 3 spd column

I have a '76 F-100 with a 360FE , three on the tree. Reverse lights don't come on at all. I seem to recall reading somewhere that the switch is on or in the tranny. Any info or pics would be awesome. Part #'s, anything

Welcome to FTE

C9TZ-15520-F .. 3 M/T Backup Lamp Switch & Bracket Assembly (Motorcraft SW-938) / Obsoleted by FoMoCo several months ago.

Applications: 1967/77 Bronco / 1967/79 F100/250 / 1971/79 Econoline // Last MSRP: $96.29 (yikes!) / Dealer net cost: $43.33.

It's steering column mounted on the Bronco, but where it is located on F100/250's & Econolines, I dunno...as there is no parts catalog pic of the little charmer.

It has to be within the shift linkage, either on the column or on the trans, as it's activated when the shift lever is put into reverse.

Obsolete from Ford, but prolly available from NAPA and etc...and prolly for less buckaroos.

The switch is located at the base of the steering column in the engine compartment. The picture is a bumpside, but you get the idea.
The tranny mounted switch is the 4 speeds.

Thanks Mike, I've never been able to find the parts catalog pic for that fracatta switch.

The 4 speed switch threads into the shift tower on NP's and Warners, I've known that for decades.

OP has 3-on-the-tree (Ford type 3.03 3 speed manual all syncromesh trans).

Neutral Safety Switch = A/T.

if you can find the proper switch, all you need is any electrical toggle switch, (push button one) with 2 wire.

make a bracket so when your reverse is all the way in, the linkage, as shown in the picture push the switch on, turning you light on.

here in canada, they wanted $129 for the right switch, went to an electrical store, got one real similar, for about $5, i just needed to adjust the bracket a little.

Hers an update. Thanks to y'all I found the switch, and I also found that it was no where near touching the shift linkage. So I adjusted it and low and behold, one reverse light came on. Replaced a bulb, both reverse lights work. Talk about a cheap fix! Haha. Thanks again mike and numberdummy
