fe head performance

trying to figure out what head is best for performance, i have a c6aer d-shaped comb, 2.34x1.34 ports and 2.03x1.54 valves..
71.2-74.3 c.c.
and the other is a c8aeh, kidney shaped combustion ,1.93x1.34 ports and 2.03x1.54 valves..68.1-71.1 c.c.

what combustion chamber works better for performance..

thanks

The C8AE-H head seems to be the most popular head for working with but that may be due to the fact that it is the most common. Not sure which combustion chamber is the best though. I haven't really gotten into that stuff before. I just did what 428 Fairlane Ranchero said. I went with the edelbrock.

Specials, I think they are pretty equal. Some of the drag racing guys like the early (C6AE-R ) head for the larger intake port and higher exit exhaust. I like the later heads ( C8AE-H and D2TE-AA ) for the smaller chamber and velocity type intake ports. If you look at the intake ports in a 427 MR head and then at the later heads, you'll see that Ford learned alot, and applied the knowledge. The later heads DO have a lower exit exhaust however. I port the exhaust and raise the exit to compensate. One of the biggest things is your port matching- make sure your intake matches whatever head you choose to run. And check the fit of your headers, sometimes it is nessasary to oblong the bolt hole in the flange to get your pipes to mate correctly with where your ex ports come out. DF
