Hi there I drive a08 f350 with a 6.4l and I'm looking at doing the dpf delet on it. One of the set ups is the edge CTS and a AFE cat and dpf delet pipe. My question is is any one knows if I need the regular edge CTS or do I need the race version. I'm not really interested in tons of extra hp but would really like better mpg or lt per 100. Thanks for any info on this topic in advance
Shaun
You will need the race version. FYI, Superchips/Edge are no longer selling race versions so you will have to find an older one that someone is selling or that a dealer still has. Also, SCT is no longer selling race tunes either in case you decided to look there.
Wouldn't bank on MPG's getting a whole lot better. You may consider the DPF-R. Simply re-programs the PCM to not go into Regen. You'll save on the elimination of raw fuel being dumped into the exhaust.
Hi guys
Thanks for the feed back. I thought I knew what I wanted to do but I'm not so sure now. I definitely don't want to get worse mpg. But I hate when my truck goes into regen mode it drive terrible. Also should I be using a winter grill cover my truck doesn't seem to warm up fully. When I say that I mean it sounds cold even though the gauges say its warmed up? Thanks again any any more info on the dpf delet kits would be awesome.
Thanks Shaun

Start doing searches on H&S, Spartan and even DPF-R+ if your not looking to spend a lot of money. The H&S and Spartan seem to be the most popular, but they run between $1200 - $2000 depending on features and tunes. The DPF-R+ comes with only 1 tune and simply turns the Regen and EGR's off and runs for less then $500.
There's plenty of information out there and allot of different camps, people saying your a fool unless you buy brand X. So take it all with a grain of salt.
You can get a Minimax + delete pipe for about $1K.
From what I've been reading, air intakes and bigger exhausts don't buy much in terms of mpgs. Factory stock is more than sufficient if you're not laying on the mpg pedal all the time.
But once you realize the tuner lets your rig breathe, it's hard to control your right foot. LOL
Cool thanks I'll have to check it out. Is it true that spartan is the only company out that is not detectable by ford?

I think they claim that but Ive not heard from anyone who put it to the test. I personally don't believe it for a minute. even given the limited space for programs on the computer, there is no way Ford had a program built that would not retain evidence of tampering. But, I'm no expert and I could be wrong. The real issue with a tuner while under warranty (besides the moral delema if you think you are an honest person, and the fact that it is fraud) is that if the truck fails away from home you are out of luck anyway. My approach is that it's off and I'm out of warranty. Besides you might catch a break and find a dealer/tech who didn't care or one who would void you only if the tuner caused the problem (like the law says).
