The door ajar switch is integrated into the door latch. Apply 1/4 can of WD-40 to each door latch and open/close the door 2 or 300 times (that's an exaggeration but you get the idea). That often fixes dome light issues.
I'll give it a shot. When I get this one figured out I have another! Probably more important. Running lights front and back out. along with dash lights. Checked fuses. Just bought this truck2-1/2 weeks ago and drove home in the dark and lights worked but next day did not. Suspecting light switch but don't know how to remove without destroying. Any tips or suggestions?
Check the fuses with a test light or continuity meter first. A fuse can be bad but not look like it. If that doesn't work, the switch panel just pops out with a little prying.
All right, Not a moron here, but which fuse is the running lights? I did not get manual with truck but did go on line to find fuseblock ID and I just don't recognize their description maybe? Just give me location number. Thanks
It's possible you might have a bad GEM Module. That's why I am asking the questions I have asked. The GEM controls all of those things you are talking about.
Door dinger goes off when door is shut and when key out of ignition. This is a diesel. No 6 on the tach. fyi
Is there water leaking into the cab? Leaky windshield, or leaky cab clearance lights. Sounds like the GEM Module to me. Dinger should not go off when key is out of ignition.
little understanding here. The dinger sounds (makes noise) when the key is in and doors are open. Dinger does not make noise when key is out. Do not suspect water damage. But cannot see too far up under dash. Would the GEM also control the power mirrors? I have trouble here too but didn't think connected to lights.
Yes. I would try doing what dchamberlain said to try. If the simptoms continue after that, then you probably have a bad GEM. Rule the simple fix out first, then go from there.
